Today's Article: Finding Love on the Internet!

Finding love on the Internet is fast becoming a new hit, you hear about it all over the world, Canada, America, Australia even right here in the UK. But is it for real? And where do these lucky lovebirds meet in Cyber Space? Do they have a helping hand? And finally does it really work? Today, Elisha talks to a couple who are making a go of it, and are willing to share their stories with us.

Elisha: Hiya guys, first I have Adam and Sonia who met, like many other couples through or with the help of the net. Why don't you tell me a little bit about yourselves and your situation

Adam: Hi, I'm Adam and I'm 32. I have a very demanding job in Banking- I work long hours in front of a computer and have very little time to socialise out of work. I love many of the people I work with- but I couldn't date them- it just wouldn't be fair. I missed being able to meet different people- out of work. Since I spend such a lot of my time in front of a computer I decided to give chat rooms a whirl- they turned out to a lot of fun- I met a lot of different people- some men with the same problems as me- one of them suggested I use a internet dating finder- one particularly recommended friendfinder.

Sonia: I'm 29 and just come out of a nasty, long divorce. My husband was violent and abusive and left my confidence and self esteem in tatters. I became very depressed and disillusioned and found it very hard to talk to people, let alone go out and meet men. I never used to go out, and began to take refuge in my computer and the internet- it was as though I found a voice- one that I'd lost a long time ago. This not only helped me meet new people through the net- it helped me gain enough confidence and courage to overcome my past- one that I can now forget and move on. Finally I decided to sign up with Friendfinder, by this time I was totally ready to move on and start over.

Elisha: What does signing up with such a site entail?

Sonia: Basically you sign up and set yourself a post-box. You almost advertise yourself. You place a picture on the site, along with your stats (statistics) you also write about yourself, mentioning your hobbies, likes, dislikes etc- basically introducing yourself to everyone. Then you simply just have to wait to see if anyone is interested in you- if they are they will leave a message in your post-box-, which you will check regularly.

Adam: When you receive a reply it is totally up to you whether you reply or not. It's your decision, if you think the person isn't right for you, you simply ignore the reply and wait for the next.

Elisha: About how long does this process last?

Adam: It totally depends on the people and the situation, you could wait forever for the right person to come along, or it could be the first reply you ever get.

Elisha: So, who reply to whose advert then?

Adam: We both replied to each other's.

Sonia: But I replied to Adams first. I really liked his picture and we had common interests, we also live quite close- he in Manchester, me in Liverpool- not a million miles apart is it? When I replied to his advert I really didn't think anything would come of it- I had replied to others before and nothing much had really happened- I was beginning to loose faith in it. When I got a message from Adam- it wasn't a reply to the message I'd sent him- it was a message he's sent to me on his own accord- this excited me immensely!

Elisha: It sure is complicated! So what happened next?

Sonia: We began emailing each other more and more frequently- it was all very exciting. I could tell this was going to be different- we hit it off so quickly. Soon after we arranged to chat together on the net.

Adam: The first time we ever chatted, we chatted for 6 hours non-stop. It was absolutely fantastic- we seemed to have so much in common, we got on so well. I felt that I had known Sonia all my life- this was the start of something big. We began chatting very regularly, at least twice a day- we also set up a hotmail messager- so we could track each other.

Elisha: When did you take the next step?

Sonia: After about 6 weeks Adam asked me for my phone number. It was such a wonderful feeling-it was like being proposed to all over again. We spoke for a very long time- we then arranged to meet each other the very next day- it was all so exciting- everything was picking up speed.

Elisha: How would you define your relationship at the moment?

Adam: A complete, but fantastic muddle- I'm enjoying every moment of it. We just taking things steady at the moment- we don't want to ruin what we found with each other.

Elisha: What do you see for the future?

Sonia: Who knows? I wouldn't like to say. All I know is that I'm enjoying every moment of what me and Adam have right now. The whole experience has changed both our lives- for the better. I have a lot to thank the Internet for- it's great.

Elisha: And finally, what is your advice to others?

Sonia: My advice is just go for it! DonÎt worry about what people think- the Internet is a great opportunity to meet new people- make the most of it.
